DEDICATION

As Sheriff, I will provide you the highest quality law enforcement services. I believe a successful law enforcement agency works together as a team. I want my team to include all local and state law enforcement agencies, the Commonwealth Attorney's Office and ALL the citizens of Halifax County. As a team, we can provide a safer community for our young people and senior citizens. Involving citizens, through Community Policing programs provides law enforcement the tools to be more productive, often preventing or reducing criminal activities.

Having served the community my entire adult life, I am eager to continue serving the citizens of Halifax County as their sheriff “bringing a new perspective to local law enforcement.”

ABOUT FRED CLARK

Fred was born and raised in Halifax County. He graduated from Halifax County High School in 1982, received an Associate's Degree from Danville Community College in 1984 and graduated from the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in 1992. He is a dedicated husband to Beverly Conner Clark, the father of three children - Cullen, Sam and Isaac and a member of Catawba Baptist Church.

His experience as a deputy sheriff, jail officer and as a magistrate combined with his volunteer firefighting service uniquely qualifies him to hold the office of Sheriff. Working as a deputy sheriff under three previous administrations has provided him insight into the day-to-day management of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Fred's years as a magistrate have afforded him the opportunity to learn more about the judicial system and provided him with opportunities to work closely with local judges, the commonwealth attorney’s office, county mental health and social services, as well as representatives of both state and local law enforcement agencies.

In addition to his experience in law enforcement, three decades of serving as a volunteer firefighter have taught Fred to be considerate of people in times of crisis and helped him to better handle emergency situations.
